Momentive SNAPSIL™ RTV159 (Red) – High-Strength, High-Temperature Paste Silicone Adhesive Sealant

SNAPSIL™ RTV159 is a red, one-component, ready-to-use, high-strength silicone adhesive sealant that cures at room temperature upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a tough, resilient silicone rubber. Engineered for the most demanding industrial applications, RTV159 delivers exceptional tensile strength (1,025 psi), high tear resistance (95 pli), and outstanding performance at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for structural bonding, high-stress gasketing, and thermal environments where reliability is critical.

RTV159 features a paste consistency, allowing it to be applied cleanly to horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces without slumping. During curing, it releases acetic acid vapours, so it should not be used in contact with acid-sensitive metals such as copper or brass.

Due to its moisture-cure chemistry, RTV159 must not be applied in thicknesses greater than 6 mm (¼ inch). For deeper sections, Momentive Performance Materials recommends one-component addition-cure or two-component silicone rubber compounds with similar performance characteristics.
