SNAPSIL™ RTV157 (Grey) – High-Strength, High-Performance Silicone Adhesive Sealant
SNAPSIL™ RTV157 is a grey, one-component, ready-to-use, high-strength silicone rubber adhesive sealant that cures at room temperature upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a tough, resilient silicone rubber. It is specifically engineered for demanding industrial applications requiring exceptional mechanical strength, excellent adhesion, and reliable performance across a wide temperature range.
RTV157 features a paste consistency, allowing it to be applied cleanly and securely to horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces without slumping. During cure, it releases acetic acid vapours, a characteristic of acetoxy-cure silicones, so it should not be used in contact with acid-sensitive metals such as copper or brass.
Due to its moisture-cure chemistry, RTV157 must not be applied in thicknesses greater than 6 mm (¼ inch). For deeper sections, Momentive Performance Materials recommends one-component addition-cure or two-component silicone rubber compounds with similar performance characteristics.

Technical Notes
- Maximum recommended cure thickness: 6 mm (¼ inch)
- Releases acetic acid during cure, avoid use with copper, brass, or other acid-sensitive metals
- Tack-free time: ~45 minutes at 25°C (77°F) and 50% RH
- Full cure (3 mm thickness): ~24 hours; full bond strength develops in 7 days
