SILTRUST™ SS4004 – (Pink) Universal Primer for Condensation Cure Silicones
SILTRUST™ SS4004 is a one-component, ready-to-use, bright pink primer specifically designed to promote strong adhesion between condensation-cure RTV silicone rubber compounds and a wide range of difficult-to-bond substrates. Its vivid pink colour provides immediate visual confirmation of uniform coverage, ensuring consistent application in manufacturing environments where process control and dependability are critical.
SS4004 is a solvent-based, medium-solids (15%) primer that dries at room temperature to form a reactive film that significantly enhances silicone bonding to metals, porous materials, ceramics, and wood. It is especially recommended for use with Momentive’s one- and two-component condensation-cure RTV systems (e.g., RTV100 Series, RTV500 Series, RTV8000 Series) when maximum adhesion to non-silicone surfaces is essential.

Substrate Compatibility
SS4004 is recommended for use on:
- Metals (aluminium, copper, steel, stainless steel, brass, galvanised steel)
- Unglazed ceramics and glass
- Wood and other porous materials
- Certain rigid thermoplastics (compatibility testing advised)
Note: As with all solvent-based primers, test for substrate sensitivity to some plastics (e.g., polycarbonate, ABS) may craze. Apply with a single, smooth stroke to minimise risk.

- Solvent system: Acetone, isopropanol, xylene, n-butanol
- Flash point: –12°C (10°F) – highly flammable
- Dry time: 30 minutes at 25°C (77°F) and ≥25% RH
- Film thickness: 0.01–0.02 mm (0.5 mil) recommended
- Storage: Keep container tightly closed
- Compatible with brush, wipe, or dip application methods.
- Not recommended for spray application due to high volatility.
