QSil™ 550 – Flame Retardant, Thermally Conductive, Two-Part Addition-Cure Silicone for High-Temperature Potting

QSil™ 550 is a two-component, 100% solids, addition cure silicone elastomer engineered for high reliability potting and encapsulation of electronic assemblies that require flame resistance, thermal stability, and environmental protection. With a 1:1 mix ratio by weight, QSil 550 offers a long pot life (130 minutes at 25°C) and cures rapidly to a durable, repairable elastomer either at elevated temperatures (e.g., 7 minutes at 150°C) or at room temperature over a longer cycle.

Formulated as a low-modulus, grey cured system, QSil 550 delivers excellent stress relief for sensitive components while maintaining high thermal conductivity (~0.37 W/mK) and continuous service up to 275°C (527°F). Its UL 94 V-0 rating and high dielectric strength make it ideal for demanding applications such as medical sterilisation units, power electronics, and industrial control systems.

  • Self-bonding: No adhesion to substrates may require surface treatment or priming

Cure options:

  • Fast cure: 7 minutes at 150°C
  • Room-temperature cure: Slower, but viable for non-urgent applications

Storage & Shelf Life

  • Shelf life: 24 months in original, unopened containers
  • Max storage temperature: 38°C (100°F)
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
