Momentive SNAPSIL™ RTV116 (Red) – High-Temperature Self-Leveling Silicone Sealant

SNAPSIL™ RTV116 is a one-component, red, self-leveling silicone sealant engineered for high-temperature applications requiring excellent flow into tight spaces and surface voids. It cures at room temperature upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a flexible, resilient silicone rubber that maintains performance under extreme thermal conditions. RTV116 is ideal for thin-section potting, protective coatings, and electrical insulation where high-temperature resistance and self-leveling properties are essential. Like other acetoxy-cure silicones, it releases acetic acid during cure and is not recommended for use with acid-sensitive metals.

Key Features

  • High-temperature performance: Continuous use up to 260°C (500°F); intermittent exposure up to 315°C (600°F)
  • Self-leveling consistency – Flows easily into small crevices, gaps, and hard-to-reach areas
  • Room-temperature moisture cure – No mixing, heat, or primers required for most substrates
  • Excellent adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics, and many plastics
  • Superior electrical insulation – Suitable for high-temp electrical and electronic applications
  • Good weatherability and chemical resistance – Resists ozone, aging, and many industrial fluids

Typical Applications

  • Thin-section potting and encapsulation
  • Filling surface voids and micro-gaps in high-temp assemblies
