TSK551 – Dielectric Silicone Grease for Electrical Insulation and Corona Protection

TSK551 is a green-translucent, grease like silicone compound engineered to protect outdoor and industrial electrical insulators from environmental contamination, moisture, and electrical degradation. Formulated with excellent dielectric properties, it repels water, resists corona discharge, and prevents surface tracking caused by dust, salt, or industrial pollutants, making it ideal for use in coastal, industrial, or high-pollution environments.

Identical in performance to the clear TSK550, TSK551 includes a green pigment for visual identification and process control during application. It remains stable across a wide temperature range (–50°C to 200°C / –58°F to 392°F) and maintains its protective film without hardening, cracking, or washing away.

Key Features

  • Superior dielectric insulation – prevents arcing, flashover, and current leakage
  • Water-repellent and hydrophobic – shields against rain, humidity, and condensation
  • Corona and tracking resistant – protects insulator surfaces in high-voltage applications
  • Green tint – enables easy visual confirmation of uniform coverage
  • Stable across extreme temperatures: –50°C to 200°C (–58°F to 392°F)
  • Low oil bleed (0.7%) and minimal weight loss (<0.4%) at 150°C
  • Non-drying and non-hardening – maintains long-term flexibility and protection

Typical Applications

  • Coating outdoor electrical insulators on transmission and distribution lines
  • Protecting transformers, switchgear, and connectors in coastal, industrial, or railway environments
  • Sealing and lubricating switch contacts, relays, and cable terminations
  • Moisture barrier for underground and overhead electrical enclosures
  • Preventing adhesion of contaminants on porcelain, glass, and polymer insulators

Technical Notes

  • Appearance: Green-translucent paste
  • Penetration (JIS mixture): 220–260
  • Specific gravity: 1.03
  • Dielectric strength: >4 kV/0.25 mm
  • Volume resistivity: >10¹² Ω·cm
  • Application thickness: 0.5–2 mm (thicker films recommended in high-contamination areas)

Processing Recommendations

  • Apply to clean, dry insulator surfaces using a brush, cloth, or gloved hand
  • Ensure full coverage of ribs, sheds, and hardware contact points
  • Reapply periodically in high-wash or high-dust environments
  • Compatible with ceramic, glass, silicone rubber, and most polymer insulators

Packaging Options

  • Available in tubes & industrial containers suitable for field maintenance and utility-scale applications.
