SNAPSIL™ RTV5242 (White) – Fast-Cure, Neutral-Cure Electronic-Grade Silicone Sealant
RTV5242 is a white, one-component, ready-to-use, neutral-cure silicone adhesive sealant engineered for high-reliability electronic and industrial applications where fast curing, moisture resistance, and compatibility with sensitive metals are critical. Unlike standard alkoxy silicones, RTV5242 cures up to 4× faster, forming a tough, resilient elastomer that maintains strong adhesion even after prolonged exposure to hot, wet environments.
RTV5242 utilises a proper neutral alkoxy cure system, releasing only methyl alcohol vapour during cure, no acetic acid, no exotherm, and no corrosive by-products. This makes it ideal for use on copper, brass, silver, and other corrosion-sensitive conductors, as well as on painted surfaces and engineering plastics. With excellent hydrolytic stability and UL recognition (File No. E-36952), RTV5242 delivers long-term reliability in demanding aerospace, automotive, appliance, and telecommunications systems.

- Avoid curing above 43°C (110°F) to prevent bubble formation

Processing Recommendations
- Apply to clean, dry surfaces – no primer required for most substrates
- For difficult-to-bond plastics or painted surfaces, SS4179 primer is recommended
